Walking through this series you should become one with the gospel all over again. Do you remember when you first got saved? Or just the first time you felt comforted by the words of Jesus. I believe we have negated relying on his word. We rely on the words and affirmations of our selves instead of the constant love and beautifulness of Gods. We search for the acceptance of the world and not of the gospel. In the first letter we looked at how to consider the gospel. We looked at it from a few angles. How to consider it in our homes, jobs. relationships and more. So now the question is how do we rely on the gospel?
RECAP:
The Gospel: The gospel is the four books in the New Testament, which are Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. These are the records of the good news. Also, God's plan for a savior through the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each book has a method to communicate the life message of Jesus Christ.
Now that we understand the Gospel, let's look at the word consider.
Rely: depend on with full trust or confidence. to be dependent on.
So, what do you rely on? As a millennial myself I have to admit now with all this technology it's so hard to go look something up without google. Usually, when I have a big question, need to make a quick decision or need to find out about a subject I will ask google. My technology gives me access to the knowledge that's already in front of me. To my defence, I'm sure I am not the only one. Yet I wonder how would our lives look if we didn't rely on google to give us quick answers? We depend and trust google more then we do Jesus. We depend and lean on social media for information a perceived truth more than we do the gospel. The gospel is what has taught us our way of life and how to live. It's the gospel that Jesus brought us to live dependent on. Jesus stressed to us in Luke 9: 23-26
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.
25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
To rely on the gospel we must be willing to deny relying on ourselves. We have to take up our cross daily and follow him. Until hi return. Who will you rely on? Will you rely on your peers, your co workers, google? Or will you rely on him and look not to save your life but live for him in his resurrection?
I invite you to begin relying on the Gospelof Jesus. Rely on his teachings and his affirmations alone. Rely on what he says about you not man. Rely on what he says you shall have not man. Keep him on your mind at all times not your job. And i promise you, life will make a whole lot more sense. Rely on the Gospel.
